There are many different types of websites, and not every project needs the same design. Some projects require a more technical capability, and other products just need a simple website.

We recommend that people start with WordPress. This is the most popular platform in the world. It is projected that by 2025, that 50% of the websites on the internet will run on WordPress. We have built dozens of WordPress websites and have taught dozens of people to maintain their own website. We just think that model makes sense. Who better to write content, than YOU? I mean there is nobody else in the world that knows your company better than you. Having fresh content on your website leads to more people coming to your website from Search Engines.

What About Drupal?

This platform was incredibly popular during the Obama Administration. There were, and still are a lot of US Government projects that were built on Drupal. Drupal allows for better scalability than other platforms, and it resembles a true database driven system because it is more flexible in defining new views, and forms. Drupal is amazing for some projects.

And Joomla?

There are a lot of developers that love Joomla. It is oriented towards a bit more technical crowd, and it has a wide selection of plugins. Some plugins are free and others are available at a one time fee. The selection of themes is a bit more sparse, and long term anyone planning on investing in Joomla should plan on hiring someone to customize or create a theme. Joomla is a solid CMS system and it is one of the most stable and reliable platforms anywhere.

Anything Simpler?

Many people like the idea of using Wix, or Squarespace. Those two applications have a bunch of nice templates, and they allow some nice looking websites to be setup easily. We can help you with Wix or Squarespace, and we think that it makes SENSE to start with Wix or Squarespace so that we can start building some designs, in order to see what you like.

But long term, we like systems that allow offsite backups, and more advanced integrations like CRM tools, and Messaging, chat Programs. We just love the power that programs like WordPress can provide. But it makes sense to start small and simple.

And For More Complex Business Websites?

This is an easy answer for me, but it’s a hard product to demonstrate for a few reasons. The setup takes a few hours. And this product comes in two editions, a community edition, which is open source and can be easily installed on a Virtual Private Server. The other choice for this software is the Enterprise Edition. Both editions have a lot of nice features. It’s difficult to forecast whether we will recommend the Community or Enterprise edition, because it’s a complex formula.

We can talk about about this option, the software is an ERP software that has an integrated Website Builder that WE THINK is just as beautiful as Wix and Squarespace. Let us know if you want to hear about the details!
